ADVANCED SKIN + BEAUTY
I would be remiss to talk about all of these biological anti-aging practices without also talking about our largest organ, our skin. Men and women both have immense pressure these days to look great for longer. Some of my favorite biohacks that we just covered are also beneficial to skin health. Great skin is an inside job for the most part, so focus on drinking pure water, eating nutrient-dense foods, getting high-quality sleep, and exercising regularly. These are great ways to extend your skin’s healthspan. Red light therapy is also great for maintaining skin elasticity, boosting collagen, and reducing inflammation. I use red light every morning after I shower and before I start my day (for me, 10– to 20 minutes of a red light panel each morning).
Here are some of my other favorite skin biohacks to maintain healthy skin:
PRP and Microneedling
This treatment is one of my favorites and one that I do at least four times per year. PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is derived from your own blood. Your blood is drawn and spun, which separates the blood from the PRP, or, as it is often referred to, “liquid gold.” You then microneedle, or use tiny needles, to injure the top layers of the skin and create microchannels in the skin for the PRP to penetrate. The micro injuries increase blood flow to the face and neck, can improve skin texture, and may boost collagen and elastin in the skin. For even more benefit, you can also use exosomes, or extracellular stem cell material, with the PRP, as they offer growth factors.
Radio Frequency (RF) Microneedling
Radio frequency microneedling is similar to standard microneedling, but it also releases radio frequency under the skin once punctured to stimulate collagen and skin tightening. You can follow this treatment with PRP and exosomes as well.
